Susan Ford Robertson is the current Chair of the Appellate Judicial Performance Evaluation Committee and of the Missouri Bar Civil Practice and Procedure Committee. She is a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America and of the American Bar Foundation. She is past President of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers and the Missouri Board of Law Examiners. Ms. Robertson concentrates her practice in the areas of civil appellate practice. She is hired as appellate counsel in all stages of complex litigation to work with trial counsel to protect and preserve the record and to present appeals to the appellate courts in Missouri as well as other states and in the federal courts. She has 20 years of published federal and state appellate court opinions covering a wide range of civil issues.
Ms. Robertson has made numerous national and state presentations on appellate and trial practice to organizations such as the Defense Research Institute, The Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, The Missouri Appellate Judicial College, The Missouri Trial Judge Judicial College, The Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers and The Missouri Bar. She is also a frequent presenter on behalf of The Missouri Bar on isues regarding ethics and professionalism.
She has served on Blue Ribbon Commission on the Independence of the Judiciary and on the Ethics 2005, 2003 Rules of Professional Conduct and the Ethics 2000 Special Commmittees of The Missouri Bar. She is former chair of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers annual trial academy. She has published numerous chapters for The Missouri Bar Deskbook Series on issues regarding trial and appellate practice. Most recently she authored Chapter 27 Superseding and Staying Judgments in Missouri in the 2007 American Bar Association publication Superseding and Staying Judgments, A National Compendium.
Ms. Robertson is the 2005 recipient of The Missouri Bar President's Award given in recognition of her efforts in maintaining a completely impartial judiciary. In 2005 she also received Defense Research Institute's Excellence Award. She was named in 2006 and 2005 as one of the top 50 female attorneys in Missouri and Kansas and named a Super Lawyer in Missouri and Kansas by :Law & Politics in 2005, 2006 and 2007. She is the 1996 receipient of the David A. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Award presented by The Missouri Bar Foundation in recognition of outstanding achievement in appellate practice. She was previously named by Missouri Lawyers Weekly in 1998 one of the Up and Coming Lawyers in Missouri.
Several appeals she has handled have been recognized by Missouri Lawyers Weekly in its Most Significant Opinions issues.
